The people we meet in life—regardless of whether we label them as family, partners, or friends—are not simply roles or coincidences. They are mirrors, offering us the rare opportunity to meet our true selves. If we focus only on external roles and cannot detach from these surface-level ties, we miss the deeper purpose of these encounters.
While we live in physical form, we constantly face a choice: will we liberate our true selves, or keep them confined within a false identity? Throughout history, we have repeatedly chosen confinement—mistaking the self for the visible form, believing we were free while misunderstanding what freedom truly means.
Whatever desire arises from within—whether it's to gain wealth, leave a legacy, or seek personal glory—we must face it head-on. Follow it through to its end. Fully engage with that desire until its futility becomes undeniable. Only then will the inner eye—clear and compassionate—reveal itself and guide us toward truth.
This eye, present in every heart, speaks silently: "Turn toward truth." When we truly recognize this message, we begin to accept it—not intellectually, but from the heart.
The author shares from experience: they, too, pursued worldly power, battled for recognition, and built personal empires. But ultimately, it wasn't until they hit the depths of inner despair that the opportunity for rebirth and true direction emerged. From that place of surrender, a new commitment to truth was born.
To walk this path, we must first be willing to face ourselves—fully and without compromise. Only then does the journey toward true freedom and awakening begin.
